Marine Electrics are specialists in marine electrical and electronics work, on sailing and motor boats.
That is what we specialise in, and only that.

We believe that installations on boats require a different approach to installations on land or in vehicles. There are different requirements for each. On a boat, you have a harsh, damp, salt-laden atmosphere. Add to this the constant vibrations from waves, wind and engines and it is no wonder that installations which would be fine ashore, or on a vehicle, do not last very long on a boat.

We have found the majority of electrical failures on boats occur in installations which took place after the manufacture of the boat. Most of these failures are due to two things, incorrect terminations, especially low quality automotive crimp terminals and incorrect cables being used. Low quality terminations and cables cause loss of use of equipment, equipment failure and fire. Very often, low quality connectors and cables will work OK for a few months, or maybe even a few years, but when they fail, it is usually at the worst possible time. Many installations last just one season, particularly electronics and instrument installations. Coincidentally, so do most warranties. Our warranty period is for two years, parts and labour!
